Peru has a millennial tradition of growing and perfecting Cotton, which goes back to the pre-Inca cultures. Peruvian Pima Cotton (gossypium barbadense) is today considered to be one of the softest and finest Cottons in existence. This precious commodity is grown on the fertile soil of the Piura and Chira valleys in northern Peru.
The fiber’s extraordinary length of up to 42mm and fineness between 3.3 and 4 microns is what makes Peruvian Pima Cotton softer, smoother and stronger than other Cotton fibers. It is carefully handpicked in order to avoid the impurities that industrial harvesting leaves and foregoes the use of defoliant agents.
