Careful Breeding Process

Pacomarca is an experimental Alpaca ranch over 1500 hectares at an altitude of 4060 meters above sea level on the Peruvian Altiplano. Here, where the sky merges with the blue mirrors of the Lake Titicaca, the Inca Group has pioneered in 1992 a project to improve fine fiber production in Alpacas.

Today, Pacomarca is succeeding in improving the stock of Alpacas and spreading the benefits to the rural communities. Knowing that finer Alpaca fibers command a higher price in the international market, selective breeding is a way to help the Andean communities make a livelihood from Alpaca farming.
